over turn
because we care
so much
about life here
just not if its born
or brown
or black
hails from the east
or an island
or was here first
not if it’s queer
female
school age
elderly
or sick
less able-bodied
neurodiverse
or from any other place
not if it’s poor
unmoored
or without a home
not if it finds itself in the wrong body
or loves a different God
not if it’s animal
plant, insect
or the very earth itself
not if it’s wounds came from war
or were passed down from generations before
or if it speaks a little too much truth
a little too loud
but we care.
oh yes.
we care.
