Feast of the Dead
“But someone will ask, ‘How are the dead raised? With what kind of body do they come?’” - 1 Corinthians 15.35
The pharaoh, sweetmeat-wrapped
A candied fruit, a sugared nut
To tempt god’s tooth
And rows of coffins serried
Like layered trays in chocolate boxes
With tombstone keycards
As if the hollow world
Was moulded like an Easter egg
To hatch sweet treats
When Judgement Day arrives
And angels crack the shell apart
To take their pick.
“He has filled the hungry with good things.” - Luke 1.53
