To the Bone
swat away the flies and
try to piece together what once appeared whole
can you imagine beauty
what happened here
she couldn’t find her way out of the maze
and even before her heart finally stopped
the creatures swarmed and feasted
picking sweet pink from bone until what was left
was how she had felt all along
